Gramercy Park Hotel
The Gramercy Park Hotel's Haute Bohemian heritage has been honored and renewed in the transformation by
Ian Schrager. It is still the Gramercy Park Hotel but better! It
represents a sensuous vision of artful diversity.
"In 1984, we created a kind of hotel that didn't exist before. Now, however, it's over for design hotels with their slick,
spiffy, and over-styled interiors. They have been embraced by the mainstream and become the rule rather than the exception. It was time
to move on," said Ian Schrager. The famed Gramercy Park Hotel has been a clubhouse for café society and a haven for globetrotters since
it opened its doors in 1925. Edith Wharton lived here, and Humphrey Bogart was married here. We worked hard to preserve the DNA of the
hotel because it has a very special place in people's hearts," said Ian Schrager.
The result is a rich, sensuous decor, lush colours of the Renaissance and the 19th-century mansions of Andalucia.
